Probably Estepona’s best known urbanisation and definitely one of its best loved, Alcazaba Beach is ideally situated on the seafront just to the east of the town centre. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and supermarkets (to name just a few of the amenities with easy reach), Alcazaba Beach appeals to residents and holidaymakers alike.
With the first phase completed in the 1980’s, Alcazaba Beach was soon regarded as one of the primary luxury developments on the Costa del Sol. It’s grown considerably since then but its architecture has remained true to the original design by its Bolivian born but internationally renowned architect, Melvin Villarröel – the man who is often credited with creating Marbella’s New Golden Mile.
Today, Alcazaba Beach prides itself on offering the very best facilities of any of the Costa del Sol’s residential complexes, including seven swimming pools, one of which is heated, five tennis courts, three paddle tennis courts, a grass football pitch, gym and sauna, as well as children’s play areas and designated dog exercise areas. There is also easy access to a super paseo or beach promenade being linked to the senda litoral, which will eventually connect the whole of Málaga province’s coastline by walkway.
Alcazaba Beach is secure with 24-hour guard and barrier entry, and also benefits from a resident’s only restaurant and bar open during the summer months. It is very well maintained with all the buildings regularly painted and an administration office onsite to help and advice residents, and above all really exudes a sense of community.
There are over three hundred apartments on Alcazaba Beach spread over a large area and beautifully designed to complement the natural landscape and tropical gardens so maintaining the appearance of a low-density, low-rise residential complex that is a pleasure to walk around. The 26,000 square metre prize winning gardens have been recognized several times by the Costa del Sol Gardeners Club and there is an onsite cultural centre inviting study of the local flora.
The apartments located nearest the sea on Alcazaba Beach are those built during the first phase. Although they have no lift access or underground parking (unlike the newer phases), they are much sought after for their prime positions, tranquil environs and beautiful views. Many have been renovated to very high standards as owners appreciate their wonderful location and position on the complex. Those in the later phases (particularly phases four and five around the perimeter of Alcazaba Beach) benefit from a more modern, luxurious finish inside.
