Estepona, a golfer’s Paradise!

It is not hard to see why the Costa del Sol is nicknamed the ‘Costa del Golf’. With over seventy courses along the coast, there is something to suit all abilities and tastes. It’s the reason why so many flock to this area – with almost year-round sunshine as well as stunning views of mountains and the sea, the climate and landscape come together to create the perfect conditions for outdoor pursuits.

In the Estepona area alone, there really is something for everyone—there are three nine-hole courses, El Campanario, Coto de la Serena and La Resina, one of the newest courses completed in 2005 and one of the most pleasant to play, beautifully manicured with lush greenery, semi-tropical planting and attractive landscaping.

Just over the municipal border from Marbella, the two Atalaya courses are diverse, encompassing all levels of play. The Old Course has been in existence since 1968 and is great for casual club players with the chalet-style clubhouse presenting a fine end to a good game. The Atalaya Rosner course is definitely more of a challenge, even for the most demanding of players.

For serious players, there is a wealth of options too. The Valle Romano course has been created with low handicap players in mind, yet offers a demanding round designed for prestigious tournaments. The Club House is an impressive structure that is home to a great restaurant with wonderful views, a shop, beautiful changing rooms with sauna and locker facilities, as well as a golf school and floodlit driving range.

The Los Flamingos courses provide challenges and fun for all levels of player. Part of the Villa Padierna Hotel complex, these prestigious courses are aimed at the exclusive sector of the golfing market.

The Los Flamingos courses are each imbued with their own character and standard of difficulty: the Alferini course, which at 6,600m long is one of the few par 73 courses on the Costa del Sol; Tramores, at 3,486m a fast and fun game, and Los Flamingos with 5,714m is a course designed by renowned architect Antonio García Garrido. All are thoughtfully designed to showcase the beauty of this part of Andalucía.

This is just a small selection of the wonderful courses to be found in the Estepona area, all of which are bordered by some stunning properties featuring golf, mountain and sea views. Contact us for further information about the lovely frontline golf properties for sale in Estepona.
