Estepona beach clubs, Part 1

A lot is said about the glamorous beach clubs that line the Marbella coastline, from Elviria in the east to Guadalmina in the west, but did you know that there are also excellent beach clubs in and around Estepona?

In fact, on the Costa del Sol the beach clubs in each area have their own distinctive style and ambience, catering to different tastes and offering a wide range of options, whether you’re a visitor looking for a cool summer vibe, want to mix it with the ‘in’ crowd, are looking for stylish sophistication, a relaxed hippie atmosphere or are a family in search of a great place to spend the day with the kids.

Where Marbella is above all famous for its glamorous ‘party’ venues by the beach, or indeed refined seaside clubs such as Trocadero Playa or Ocean Club, Estepona offers a somewhat more down to earth experience. Many of the beach clubs here are not so much nightclub on the shoreline but glorified ‘chiringuitos’ – laid-back beach bars with a bar, terrace deck, sun beds on the sand and a small kitchen serving summertime snacks.

Estepona’s laid-back beachside experience
Here are some of our favourite Estepona beach clubs.

Salduna Beach is a stylish little beach club restaurant with a laid-back chic atmosphere that occupies a very private stretch of beach close to where the municipal boundaries of Estepona and Marbella meet – near Guadalmina, in fact. Trendy in an almost Tarifa kind of way, it offers sun beds, changing rooms, a cocktail bar and delicious light summer snacks in an atmosphere that is a perfect blend of Marbella and Tarifa, trendy and family-orientated. A little further westwards, towards Estepona, you will find a small cluster of charming venues along the Costalita beach opposite the little village of Cancelada. From here you can walk along the beach to the Villa Padierna Club de Mar, the exclusive beach club of the exclusive Villa Padierna Palace Hotel in nearby Los Flamingos. Refined and sophisticated, this is perhaps the most exclusive beach club west of Puerto Banús, especially if you enjoy first class seafood in a country club environment by the sea. The last beach club in what can be called the area between the New Golden Mile and Guadalmina, Heaven Beach Club offers a more hippie chic option that is often the site of live music and a gentle beachside party atmosphere. Young, trendy crowds gather here, though it is also a family-friendly setting complete with traditional grilled sardines, fun water sports activities and beachside massages.

We’ll list the best Estepona beach clubs to be found between Heaven and the area west of the Estepona marina in part two of this article, but if you would like to know more about living in the areas described, including Costalita and Benamara, and the beachside homes available for sale here, please contact the Estepona property experts at Inmo Andalucia.
