Estepona town and the wider municipal area continue to experience growth in investment for new infrastructural developments. This has, as a result, attracted more property developers to Estepona, where buyers now have the choice of exclusive contemporary residential properties in great locations.
One of the most important recent developments in Estepona is the construction of a new hospital. Residents have been asking for this for some time, and now their wish is granted. The new hospital represents a very important development for Estepona, because up until now, residents have had to travel to the Costa del Sol hospital on the east side of Marbella. Work has begun on the complex, which will be completed in 2019 and will feature a helipad, a paediatric ward and surgical and diagnostic units.
The extension of the Senda Litoral, a beachside pathway that makes it possible to walk along lengths of the coast that were previously impassable also continues apace. The latest section links Punta de Plata and La Rada beach at a cost of €245,000 and runs for 275 metres. This latest stretch of coastal path ensures that Estepona residents can now walk or cycle for three kilometres uninterrupted from Punta de Plata to El Ángel, and it is being expanded all the time.
While Estepona already has a newly inaugurated theatre and botanical garden plus Orchidarium, the town’s budding sports stars are now also about to enjoy a new athletics stadium complex. The site, covering 34,132 square metres, will feature an athletics track, football pitch, a half-pitch for seven-a-side, a BMX track and an underground car park for a thousand cars. It will be situated in the northern part of the town and the mayor hopes that it will become a host to athletic competitions. The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2018.
